Configure Invisly for the first time
1
Launch Invisly
Open Invisly from your applications menu, start menu, or by clicking the system tray icon. On first launch, the setup wizard starts automatically and walks you through the core configuration options.
2
Open the settings panel
If the wizard has already closed, access settings at any time by right-clicking the Invisly tray icon and selecting Settings, or by pressing the settings shortcut shown during initial launch. The settings panel organizes options into Overlay, Activation, and General tabs.
3
Configure overlay position
In the Overlay tab, choose where the Invisly panel appears on your screen. You can anchor it to any corner or edge, or enable free positioning to drag it wherever is most comfortable. Choose a position that does not overlap the primary area of your exam environment — typically a corner opposite your code editor.
4
Set transparency
Use the Transparency slider to control how opaque the Invisly panel is when active. A lower opacity lets you keep the overlay visible while still seeing your exam content beneath it. Find a level that is comfortable to read without drawing attention to the overlay during in-person observations.
5
Choose an activation method
In the Activation tab, configure the keyboard shortcut that shows and hides the Invisly overlay. The default shortcut is shown on screen, but you can reassign it to any key combination that does not conflict with your exam environment’s shortcuts. You can also configure a separate shortcut to trigger a code capture and analysis request.
6
Enter practice mode
Before using Invisly in an actual assessment, open Practice Mode from the main menu. Practice mode simulates the full Invisly workflow — capturing your screen, requesting analysis, and reviewing suggestions — in a low-stakes environment where you can refine your settings and build muscle memory for the activation shortcuts.
